Tatura Bowls Club raises $3500 for GV Health

The Tatura Bowls Club recently hosted its annual Tatura Hospital Day competition, raising $3500 in support of Tatura Hospital and Parkvilla Aged Care Facility.

The event drew a crowd of enthusiastic participants, all eager to showcase their skills on the green while contributing to a worthy cause.

Co-organiser of the event and Tatura Bowls Club member Jenny Johnson said she was proud of the Tatura locals for their fundraising efforts.

“The community has been extremely generous, and every year, we are gradually increasing our donation total, which is amazing, especially during these hard times,” she said.

Tatura Hospital and Parkvilla Aged Care Facility director of nursing Melissa Jackson thanked the Tatura Bowls Club and the community for their support.

“It is very humbling to have this support from our community, and we appreciate not only the money donated but also the time and effort put into it,” she said.

“We understand the cost-of-living pressures within our community right now, so we appreciate the support that has been shown to the hospital, its staff and residents.”

While last year’s donation went towards a barbecue for the residents and families, it has yet to be decided what will be purchased this year.

“What we want to do this year is ask our residents and their families what they want to see us purchase,” Ms Jackson said.

“We want the input from everyone and not just make it my decision as director of nursing, but collaborate with the community and consider their feedback.”

Alongside Mrs Johnson, event co-organiser and Tatura Bowls Club member John Crilly thanked all who contributed to the fundraiser.

“I want to thank the sponsors of our event, everyone who attended and all of our volunteers who helped with the lunches and afternoon tea,” he said.

“The support was stupendous, and the work of our members, who were selling tickets, was fantastic — it was a great day.”
