Professor Wanda Stelmach

Professor Wanda Stelmach is an experienced surgeon, health executive and academic. Wanda joined the GV Health Board in 2024, and is Chair of the Primary Care and Population Health Advisory Committee.

Wanda’s career spans over 30 years as a breast and general surgeon at the former Preston and Northcote Community Hospital (PANCH)/Northern Health and in private practice, as well as in executive roles at various organisations including Northeastern Metropolitan Integrated Cancer Services, the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and the Postgraduate Medical Council of Victoria. During this time, roles as diverse as clinician, head of unit, director of surgery, chief medical officer and board member have given Wanda insight and experience at senior corporate, network and board levels.

Wanda’s vast knowledge and experience in patient safety, quality and risk, clinical governance, workforce development, human relations, finance, corporate services and environmental sustainability, academia and research enables her to be flexible and positive in her approach to helping solve challenges facing healthcare now and in the future.

Wanda is also an Archivist at the Newhaven Yacht Squadron Victoria.
