Respite Care

Carers provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This can be very taxing. Respite care is a form of support for carers of people requiring assistance on a day-to-day basis. Respite provides an opportunity for carers to have a break from their caring role, so that they can relax and recharge their own batteries.
GV Health provides respite services via Waranga Health and the National Respite for Carers Program. Respite charges are based on the Commonwealth Government prescribed fee.
Residential Respite Care
Residential respite care is available for eligible people at GV Health’s Waranga campus, subject to availability.
Eligibility for respite care at Waranga Health is determined by the Aged Care Assessment Service. Clients can refer themselves to the Aged Care Assessment Service or be referred by a family member, carer, General Practitioner (GP) or health professional, by contacting My Aged Care.
