GV Health’s audiologists provide outpatient assessments of hearing loss and related disorders for infants, children and adults.
Audiology services aim for early and accurate diagnosis of hearing loss and balance disorders in order to ensure optimal patient care.
Audiologists can assist people who have:
- Hearing difficulties from birth
- Decreased or changed hearing
- Undergone a medical event that could damage hearing, such as head trauma, neurological pathology or toxic drug use
- Significantly distressing tinnitus
- Communication difficulties associated with hearing loss
Who are GV Health’s audiology services available to?
GV Health’s audiology services are available to inpatients, outpatients who have been referred from a clinical service within GV Health and people in the community who are referred to GV Health’s outpatient services.
How do I access GV Health’s audiology services?
Access to GV Health’s oncology services is via referral only. To arrange a referral, please speak to your General Practitioner (GP), Maternal and Child Health nurse or treating team.
Priority will be given to infants referred by the Victorian Infant Hearing Screening Program (VIHSP) and those referred as a result of Maternal and Child Health hearing screening.
In the case of sudden hearing loss or if you are very concerned about a child’s hearing, please phone (03) 5821 6600. We will do what we can to arrange an appointment as soon as possible.
