GV Health is pleased to announce upcoming changes to the Minya Barmah Room on the Graham Street campus, Shepparton. The traditional Yorta Yorta meaning of Minya Barmah is a spiritual meeting place. It is a welcoming space where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients, families, and carers can have a yarn and a cuppa, visit, and wait for their loved ones. The Aboriginal Liaison Officer staff is also located in the Minya Barmah Room and can meet with visitors there. The office space needs to change as the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Team grows. This provided an excellent opportunity to reorient and refurbish the entire space. A new design has been created that considers colours from the region and textiles to create a space that will serve as both offices and community space.
